Understanding the On the Spot brand

 

People often ask us which On the Spot products would suit their students best so we thought it might help to explain which groups the various products in the range are targetted at.

On the Spot job information leaflets

These leaflets are aimed at younger students (Year 7 and 8) and students or clients who have some difficulty reading lots of text. Originally designed for students with special needs they quickly developed a more mainstream appeal and as a result we decided to refocus them to reflect that. In the latest version the text descriptions are slightly more detailed and we included some higher level jobs such as teacher and doctor. In their current format they may prove too indigestible for students with special needs. We recommend that you look at the sample leaflets on our website before making a purchasing decision.

On the Spot Job cards

These cards are firmly aimed at students with special needs, non readers or those where learning via visual images is much more appropriate. In their current format they describe jobs using predominantly visual images and a tiny bit of text. It is important to note that these cards need teacher support as they only contain a one or two sentence description of each job and no other written detail. Because of this lack of text they work well in combination with the On the Spot Multimedia program (see details below). On the Spot Multimedia

This software package is firmly aimed at students with special needs. It explores jobs using the same image bank as the Job cards but in a more interactive way. It is also possible to print out a one page written description of each of the 150 jobs in the package. The text in these printouts is more limited and much bigger than that found in the job leaflets, making it an ideal product to complement the Job cards. On the Spot Activity Pack

This pack is aimed at students with special needs but can also be used by younger students. It contains simple to use worksheets, which explore the world of work, using the On the Spot images. This software package is firmly aimed at students with special needs. Again it explores the world of work using the On the Spot image bank in a more interactive way. It works well with the On the Spot Activity Pack which complements and extends the work covered in this package. On the Spot Lifecards

These cards are firmly aimed at students who, in all probability, will not enter the labour market. They explore skills needed to cope with everyday situations rather than anything to do with work.
