The U3 programme is designed to merge the 3 subjects of PSHE, Citizenship and Careers Education in such a way that areas of overlap are merged and dealt with simultaneously and distinct areas are kept discrete. In this way, over the 5 years of the programme it is possible to deliver a comprehensive personal development programme, which meets the guidelines for all three subjects, within the constraints of a lesson a week. Within the series, each year revolves around 3 main themes - About me, About my world and About change - and each theme is developed and progressed across the 5 year programme in such a way that the main learning outcomes for each subject area are addressed.

The U3 Y7 pack, the first in a series of 5 packs covering year 7 to 11, focuses on getting the programme started and exploring the importance of all three subjects for individuals. It then moves on to focus on understanding yourself, the community and neighbourhood in which you live and the personal and social events that can impact on your life and personal development. Containing clear and simple lesson plans and all supporting materials, the pack contains a lesson a week, every week in year 7 and is designed to be easy for staff to use and, at the same time, fun and engaging for students.
