Chick in the City Interface

Aimed at Year 7 and 8 students, this colourful, easy to use computer game is designed to get students exploring careers issues and the world of work in a lively and fun way. Research shows that:

‘The key factor that seemed to underpin successful transition at 16 was the level of the young people’s career exploration skills.’ Morris et al (1999) DfEE.

Chick in the City is a lighthearted way to show students that there is a lot to learn about careers and the world of work – the language and jargon, what employers expect from applicants, the job hunting processs, the different options open to them – and that ‘exploring’ careers can be fun. The game is ideal for use on an interactive whiteboard and can be played with a whole class or by individuals. An ideal start to a careers programme.

The game involves answering randomly drawn multiple choice questions to help Rusty the Chicken move through 5 zones.

The more questions answered correctly, the higher the score and the better the lifestyle for the Chick in the City.
